from "Senior Year" in the 1981 Liber Actorum

". . . The Class of 1981 has created a number of precedents. First was the election of the first woman President of the Senior Class, Anne DiNatale, since Boston Latin was founded in 1635. Boston Latin didn't become co-educational until 1971, but in that span of ten years, the abilities of women in our society have been recognized. Anne's election was tangible evidence that women can be accepted leaders in a society previously dominated by men; in our case, most of us voted for Anne on the basis of her leadership potential and past accomplishments, not because she was a woman. In addition to that, the class valedictorian is Paula Touliopoulos. Jane Chung, the best mathematician in our school and one of the best in the nation, is president of the National Honor Society. For school spirit, we have our own Mary Callanan masquerading as a wolf mascot."
