PARKING:
Because of the construction of the new Political Science building, the lots next to Luce Hall no longer exist, so parking for our conference will be scattered in four lots, each a 5- to 10-minute walk from Luce Hall. Ordinarily on Friday these lots are closed to the public till 4 p.m., but by special arrangement the gates will be raised for us at about 2:45. The gates will be up all day on Saturday. No parking pass is necessary.
Lot 32 is the closest to Luce but also the smallest, with 3-5 spaces likely to be available by 4 on Friday and 10-15 after 5 on Friday and all day on Saturday. Lots 19 and 26V at Ingalls Rink are the next closest, with perhaps 10-15 spaces each by 4 on Friday and 20-25 each later and on Saturday. Lot 22 near the Peabody Museum is the largest, with 30-40 spaces likely to be available on Friday and 60+ later and on Saturday.
There is metered parking on the streets near Luce Hall for $1.25/hour, quarters only. Meters must be fed till 7 p.m., including on Saturday. Parking on Hillhouse, Trumbull, and Prospect is limited to two hours only, on Sachem up to five hours. DO NOT PARK ON TRUMBULL OR PROSPECT BETWEEN 4 AND 6 ON FRIDAY – you will be towed if you do.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS to the Yale Lots
From Interstate 91 (from Hartford and north) to Lot 22
Lot 22 is the largest lot and the simplest to find. From I-91 take Exit 3, “Trumbull Street.” Stay in the middle lane and continue straight on Trumbull Street to the second traffic light, at Whitney Avenue. Turn right onto Whitney and go to the second traffic light, at Humphrey Street. Turn left there and then immediately left into Lot 22.
From Interstate 91 (from Hartford and north) to Lots 32, 26V, and 19
From I-91 take Exit 3, “Trumbull Street.” Stay in the middle lane and continue straight on Trumbull Street to the fourth traffic light, at Prospect Street. Turn right onto Prospect Street. In a short block and a half you’ll come to Lot 32, a small lot on the left. The gate should be up.
If Lot 32 has filled up, continue on Prospect just past the first traffic light, at Sachem Street. In no more than 30 yards past Sachem, next to Ingalls Skating Rink (variously described as looking like a whale, a dinosaur, or a samurai helmet), turn left into the entrance, and then immediately left again into Lot 26V (not right toward the garage, which is closed to us).
If 26V is full, you can go to Lot 19 on the opposite side of Ingalls Rink. Leaving 26V, turn right onto Prospect, right at the light onto Sachem, then right again at Mansfield Street. Lot 19 is the first entrance on the right.
If 19 is full, you’ll have to go to Lot 22, a bit of a trek. Leaving 19, probably muttering curses, turn right onto Mansfield, which is one-way north at this point. Go several blocks to Hillside Place and turn right, which is the first right you can make. Go one block and at the top of the hill turn right onto Prospect, then immediately left onto Edwards Street. Go two blocks downhill on Edwards to the first light, where you’ll turn right onto Whitney Avenue. Go to the first light, at Humphrey Street, turn right there, and then immediately left into Lot 22.
From Interstate 95 from north or south (Boston, New London, or New York):
to Lots 32, 26V, and 19
From either direction connect to 1-91 North at Exit 48, “Hartford-Springfield,” in New Haven. Continue for a short distance to Exit 3, “Trumbull Street.” Follow directions as from 1-91, above.

Continue on Broadway (which becomes Elm Street on campus, at York Street) four blocks to Church Street, at the far side (northeast corner) of the New Haven Green. Make a left onto Church and go to the fifth light. (At the second light, the intersection of Grove, Church Street becomes Whitney Avenue.) WALKING DIRECTIONS
from the four Yale lots to Luce Hall
34 Hillhouse Avenue
From Lot 32: Luce Hall is the yellow stone building just across Prospect Street from Lot 32. Because of construction, you will have to walk around the block to enter it from the front.
To get to Luce Hall from Lots 26V or 19, next to Ingalls Rink, first go to the traffic light at the corner of Prospect and Sachem. Walk one block east along Sachem and turn right onto Hillhouse Avenue. Luce Hall, 34 Hillhouse Avenue, is toward the end of the block on the right hand side, set far back from the street.
To get to Luce Hall from Lot 22, first, while in the lot, face south. The Geology Building and Peabody Museum will be in front of you and Yale’s tallest building, Kline Biology Tower, will be on your right. Follow the small walkway to the right of the Geology Building a short way till you come to Sachem Street. Just to the right of you is the start of Hillhouse Avenue, which runs south beginning there at Sachem. Walk down Hillhouse. Luce Hall, 34 Hillhouse Avenue, is toward the end of the first block on the right hand side, set far back from the street.
