Sambo: The Sambo character was the traditional representation of blacks in theater during the Jim Crow era. The depiction of blacks as lazy, docile, passive, barbaric, cheerful, and foolish children was accepted as reality across the country, usually brought by traveling minstrel shows.

Fascism: A form a government led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, and emphasizing aggressive nationalism and often racism.

Cominform: Cominform was an acronym for the Communist Information Bureau. This information agency was organized in 1947 and dissolved in 1956. Its members were the Communist parties of Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, France, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, the Soviet Union, and Yugoslavia. The Cominform attempted to reestablish information exchanges among the European Communist parties that had lapsed since the dissolution (1943) of the Comintern.
