Partners in Health

This placement is with Partners in Health’s Prevention and Access to Care and Treatment program. By adapting the accompagnateur model developed in Haiti, PACT serves some of the sickest and most marginalized patients in Boston. PACT’s community-based approach has become a model for healthcare programs in other communities around the U.S. that share the double burden of disease and unequal access to health care that PACT has confronted in Dorchester, Roxbury and other Boston neighborhoods. Proposed responsibilities include:

  • developing and editing community health worker education modules on HIV, domestic violence, drug use etc.
  • researching and putting together a “healthy life” resource guide for those living with diabetes including tips for eating right and effective exercise
  • working to set up a pilot diabetes program that will start in late 2008 or early 2010 at the Codman Square Health Center
  • participating in Partners in Health/PACT organizational planning meetings
  • other responsibilities as agreed upon with your mentor
