This placement is with the Public Policy Institute’s ONE Massachusetts program. The Public Policy Institute empowers activists through advanced policy analysis and skill-building sessions focused on messaging, campaign planning, organizing grassroots constituencies, building nontraditional coalitions and using earned and paid media strategies. ONE Massachusetts is a network-in-formation of people and organizations sharing a common vision: to rebuild public confidence in our capacity to work together, through our government, to expand economic opportunity and improve the quality of life in Massachusetts. Proposed responsibilities include:

  • researching and writing about race with respect to participation in and perceptions of government and taxation
  • developing and giving activists across the state the tools to respond effectively to the continuous attacks on government that poison public debates and undermine progress
  • developing a strategic framework and regional network within which to put to work those learned skills about understanding of the role of government
  • developing communications, advocacy, budget and leadership trainings for activists from all sectors of our state’s civic life
  • organizing, participating and taking notes at a variety of fora for civic and political dialogue
  • other responsibilities as agreed upon with your mentor
