Yeah, its 4:50 in the morning and I am still up doing homework...how fun.
And While I should probably finish it, I couldn’t resist coming back to one of my o' so favorite activities from Senior year...POSTING! yeah! how much fun was that last year, submitting posts at 11:59pm so that they weren't counted as late....good times! But, I though that i would open a conversation for my fellow FHAOS class mates regarding both Hurricane Rita and Katrina, and how race and socio economics played significant roles in "relief efforts." I actually really do miss posting and reading all of your comments, no matter how bad I was at it...or how much I really did bull**** most of them ( ok, all of them)...I still liked it. ( I really should be getting back to work) But I will expect someone to write something. I promise that I will post my opinion on the matter soon. I have a lot to say about it, but seeing as though I have three papers due within the next six hours, I will keep my comments brief. I Miss you Ms. Freeman...really, no ****ing lie, I do. This college life is a *****! why didn’t anyone tell me that it actually requires me putting in an effort and not the bull**** that I became so accustomed to in Ms. Poe wells class.... ooo, low blow. But yeah, I realize that I keep saying that I am going to end this, so let me do that. Oh yeah, I love you James Barnard Smith Kick some ass with Public Dec...and don't under estimate college....no joke, there's work involved. I promise you. But I will be back, and when i return, they're better be a post god damnit...I really need to go back to work. ( wow I can get distracted!) I hope that your new classes are as cool as ours were Ms. Freeman...(no matter how impossible that may be. lol) But until next time, Take Care!~Ethi |

Holy smokes, I seem to always forget that Boston Latin still exists and is still in session after we've left. Bored and random (and thankful that fall break is coming--although disappointed still at how much Chem homework I have), I stumble upon this discussion board again.
I definitely miss FHAO! This class really kept me updated on current happenings and I miss that soooo much. I'm like wandering around in this bubble college world, enjoying the lovely scenery, the lake, the forest, unaffected by anything happening out there. Although I did notice Roberts' confirmation to Supreme Justice, plus Miers' nomination to replace O'Connor. And the protest rally against the Walk for Life last Sunday. And something about women held in hostage somewhere to lure in their husbands? But really, I have no idea what's going on in the world. I feel completely lost without the discussions we normally have! Ah, I guess I should read the news more (shall do so after this post). Honestly, I barely know what's going on with Hurricane Katrina... other than that people are complaining at how Bush responds slow because the affected area is primarily black. And my college is doing a lot of fundraising and also offering spots as refuge for other college students in the affected area. I'm hungry. And my stomach hurts. So I'm gonna go please my stomach with Advil. Hope everyone's having fun at their respective colleges--I am loving it. I am actually a lot LESS stressed out than I was in high school. (Or maybe I just happened to have an especially easy first semester workload for a premed gal.)Ok, I need to stop procrastinating... heh... oh boy, how many times have I posted here during midnight, eh heh heh. ^_^"" ~Carrie

I'll probably post something more meaningful some other time, but:
For some reason the purple lockers really piss me off. Anyway, hi and good luck to everyone. Back to research paper... - Nick |

wow !
My name and password are still saved on this computer... wow!
Anyways, I just wanted to say "Katrina sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" haha. I guess I am the only one finding college to be much less work than BLS. But then again, maybe that's because I'm not ACTUALLY in college. Well, 4 classes technically is, I guess. Ah! I don't know...I was just bored and looking at old websites. Hope everyone is doing well!Megan Pitts

I miss FHAO.
So here I am, looking at all the discussions, and....
Wow, I miss being able to argue on the FHAO boards. Ms. Freeman, please put up a general post / News of Note thing so that the fun times can resume! James Smith 'Horatio'

Ya James is right,
Senior year has no more point without facing. Theres no class that actually has any meaning any more....its kind of depressing. I actually came onto the site tonight because I just didn't want to do any meaningless homework any more, and i really miss it, this is sad haha. Freemz, hook us uppp Tara |

I couldn;t agree more with my former FHAOS class mates James and Tara...who i miss dearly. (and meagan...take a nap) But yes, how i miss facing history, freeman, and posting. College is NOTHING that i expected. really, I never expected college to be like this. I'm misserable. actually, thats an major overstatement. But I'm finding myself questioning why I chose to come to vermont. So here i am, at 4 in the morning. pretending to be studying for a final, but of course, being distracted by the varios sites (actually, its just facebok, but i thought i would change it up today) But its interesting how much i find myself reflecting on many of the converstaions from this class. They were all really enriching and compelling. I have yet to find my self as stimulated by any of the material I am subjected to here yet. They really need to make that class mandatory!
But yeah, I guess i should get back to work. Middlebury is taking its toll on me though. My lord, first semester technically isnt even over. But oh well, I''ll deal. I hope that everyone who is still at Bls is enjoying their senior year, and that everyone will have a great christmas break and a happy new year! I might try to stop in next week. take care! |

Eugenics and Education
I would have emailed this to you but I can't find your email anywhere on this site. I just had to read a book called "Inheriting Shame: The Story of Eugenics and Racism in America" by Steven Selden for my special education and I have determined there must be a better book out there to teach about eugenics and some of its connections to educational policy at the time. This book is redundant and painful to read and frankly I would like to save future people who take the class from having to read it. Is there anything you would recommend, Ms. Freeman?
-Joe Gels (in the event that I forget to ever check this board again for the answer my email is jgels@bu.edu) ps. just throwing this out there on a long shot if I ever wanted to teach a facing history type course in the future are there any courses you randomly know of at BU which would be particularly helpful in pursuing that. Thanks
